My New School

Hey! I'm back here to my old blog. I never open it since I wrote the previous blog post. But by the way, my new school was amazing. I got some new friends there, and also the teachers. They greeted me with their kindness. But still, I miss Sinarmas. The friends ♥, the teachers ♥, my locker ♥.. :)

Moving School

Hi. I'm back to this blog that I made in SWA. So, basically, I will move this year, grade 8. It was fun to be here, at SWA, especially studied with Mr. Jabiz for English and ESL. I just want to say thank you for everything that I learned from the teachers. To be honest, my favorite teachers for 1 year in SWA are Mr. Jabiz, Mr. Frank, Mr. Bruce, Ms. Hani and Mr. Rick. My favorite subjects are ESL, Math  (sorry for math haters : P, but I like it), and PE for some games). I'll also miss my lovely laptop, although, sometimes it was error, but it's lovely. I'm moving because my parents want it, and also because of my home, now, is far away from SWA. So, overall, it was great and so fun with my friends. I don't know if my friends hated me or no (big smile for my haters), but thanks for everything guys. Miss you! One year in SWA was not enough for me, but this is it. Two things I want and not reached in the seventh grade are I got the new laptop and I can study both Mandarin and ESL. Big thanks to Mr. Jabiz and my ESL classmate for helping me, learning more, and so I can improve my English language. I hope that Mr. Jabiz and my classmate can see this little message from me. I'll keep blogging! :)

Freak the Mighty Essay

Max is a lonely protagonist in this novel that never had his confidence without Kevin, an adventurous main character. At first, they were not friend, however they started to make a faithful friendship. Finally, they make a ‘freak’ community, and they called it Freak the Mighty. They both have their own weakness. People called them abnormal. Max which is also kicker, has a big body but he is like a stupid boy. Brainy Kevin is very smart boy, but his body didn’t grow up.
Actually, the one most important theme in Freak the Mighty novel is family and friendship.
First, Max want to try to make a friend with Kevin. Therefore, he invited Kevin to ‘the down under’, which is Max’s room. He just knew that Kevin is a brainy boy. Max learned many things from Kevin, such as his father, when abruptly Kevin’s mom, which is Fair Gwen, come over to the down under and took Kevin back to his home. Ultimately, Fair Gwen felt guilty after Kevin told Fair Gwen how good was he. So, Fair Gwen invited Max’s family as her apologize. At the first, Max was still mad, but then, he cooled down and accept her apologize. They had a small dinner, and they had a lot of fun. They ate and drank which is really succulent. Max also knew that Fair Gwen is a fun and good person. I think this dinner is important to their relationship between Max’s family and Kevin’s family. They can become more closer, and also know each other deeply.

Furthermore, it’s Fourth of July. Grim really care about Max. He afraid of everything that Max do, but in this event, Grim and Gram allowed Max to go. In addition, Max saw that their dad got drunk. Everything was really busy with their activities. In the middle of the night, there were fireworks. Small little Kevin couldn’t really watch that charmed fireworks in the middle of that dark night. Some other tall and greedy people want to see that amazing fireworks. They all cover up Kevin. Thus, he could not really watch that fireworks. Immediately, Max put Kevin up to his shoulder, and Kevin was really happy. He shouted as loud as he can. They were all can watch the fireworks. This event makes Kevin and Max become more close friend. Kevin knew that Max was a care person.

And the last but not least is happened in the Christmas Eve were Max’s family and Kevin’s family had a little party for celebrating Christmas Eve. They share foods, drinks and gifts each other. From Kevin, Max got a pyramid shaped box. Inside that box, there is Kevin’s dictionary that Kevin made just for Max. However, the cunning Killer Kane, which is Max’s dad, sneak through the Max’s room in the down under. He kidnapped Max, and he went to Loretta Lee’s house. After they had some little conversation, instantaneously, Killer Kane pursue Loretta to the basement. He strangled Loretta when finally Kevin came and brought a gun. With that gun, Kevin succeed to fool Killer Kane, and he saved Loretta’s life. Eventually, they escape from Killer Kane. It’s all because Kevin that tried to save Max from Killer Kane. For me, I choose this because this topic can make more relationship between Max and Kevin’s family become more more closer, and they were like a family. Max really thankful to Kevin that saved his life.

Here is my summary from Freak the Mighty novel - I picked chapter 4;

Max still feels alone. He feels that he doesn’t has any friend. Therefore, Max want to make friend with Freak, which is Kevin. Kevin is also alone, however, he is an adventurous boy. He can make anything become more fun to him. Max invites Kevin to his room, in the 'down under'. His room is in the basement. After that time, Max learned that Freak is a smart boy. He also learned about what happen about his father and when he was young. But suddenly, Fair Gwen come and take Freak to his home. Fair Gwen realize that she already hurt Max's feelings. So she will invite him to dinner. Max was upset but then, he cools down and accepts her apology.

Final Post

In my ESL class, I can make project about anything we want. This was the first time that I can make any project that we want to make. First I still confused what I have to do, but finally I choose designing a watch, because I like to design. My classmate also made an interesting project. For example, Nabila make a t-shirt, Lidya make a cupcake, Rafi make a lego robot, Wyan make a torch, etc. You can visited their blog too for your inspiration... : )

So first, I made a post about knowledge. In 'knowledge' stage, I have to gain more information about my project by searching. Secondly, I need to make a post about comprehension. In comprehension stage, I have to understanding more about my project. Then, the next step, I was making the project. It was in application stage. So now, in this analysis stage, I have to answer the UOI question, orally identify the problems when design it, and make a commercial for my final watch. This is the question that I made before:

“Why and how is design important to making a watch?” 

Design is important for many reason. First, with the unique design of wristwatch makes people more fashionable. The design can makes fashion in our simple life. Therefore, people can be more ‘up-to-date’, and look more ‘charming’. It also makes people think that watch is not only for showing the time and date, but also make people that follow the trend of fashion.

Beside that, design is some kind of art. Designing a watch is also a part of work of art. A lot of people like art. Hence, they can create watches as many as they can. Thus, they can make an auction of it, and they can earn money from it. When they create a ‘new’ design of watch, they also can be more creative and imaginative.

Lastly, the next benefit is people can make some collections of watches. For those people who like watch, typically in the design, they like to make a collection of watch. It will acquire more motivation and inspiration of people to design.

What Happen Next..

... (Chapter 15)

Killer Kane suddenly come in the night of Christmas Eve, disturb Max in the happy night after he got a present and did some funny stuff with his family. But Max didn't know what to do, so he just sleep over the night, fear. When Max fall a sleep, Killer Kane came to Gram and Grim's room. He sad because he feels guilty about all that he did in the past. After he came to Gram and Grim, he went outside for nothing. In the next morning, after Max father come to Max's room and put his hand in Max's neck. Max was really afraid, and he told Grim and Gram about what happen in the night. However, Gram and Grim didn't trust him. Gram was shivering, afraid if Killer Kane will come and kill them. But Max and Grim try to make Gram calm down.

Freak the Mighty Question

"What will Max do if there was no treasure in the storm drain?" 

I think Max will be upset to Kevin because all of this things that they did, was really wasting time. They did some stupid things that useless. They won't trust each other. Max will thinks that Kevin is a lier. If I in Max situation, I will upset to Kevin and I will think "Why he lie to me?". But I will think "How about all of the things that Kevin told me is true?". I will apologize him.  He won't lie to me. We are a friend. 

Design Watch

Hello there! Back again to my ESL class. For now, the task is really different from all of the project that we did. In this project, we can choose anything we want. I fell excited about it. So, I got a little bit confused about what will I do. Finally, I choose to design a watch. If I can, I will do it in 3D. I never make this before. I also don't know how to do it. So, I decided to search about watch.

I think I will draw it first in paper. And scan it with the printer that already provide in our school. Then, I will search the program that I can use some program that I find. I went online and I got this website. It makes me know what can I use to design the watch. After I read that website, I will use Google Sketch Up and Adobe Photoshop. I will make try to make it as the one that I draw. For a little bit help, I think I can use Adobe Illustrator to help me a little bit.

I decided to search some web for the design. For me, this website, called "Time2" have many different kind of watch. I like some of the design of it. Still in Time2 but in the different URL. I know it is perplexing. In that page you can find  colorful, cool, and different. In this exhaustive web, I can imagine the model of the watch that I will make. So, you should check it out! The second comprehensive website that I found called "Time by design". When we click 'enter' and 'our products', we can see the example of their product like I took above. All of the watches are so unique and cool. It's not like an original watch. I pick this website because I think this website is cool. I think it's like the second edition of 'The Digital Watch', so they called it ''The Digital 1 Watch'. I like this one! :)

This watch called 'The Pie Watch'. For me, this is cool and unique. But, I think it's hard to see/read the clock. What do you think guys?

They named this 'The Orbital Watch'. Maybe it's because the circle in the middle of the watch. I think it shows the second in time.

I won't use this example of watch for my project. It just for the ideas and so, we ca gain more knowledge about watch.

AOI: Human Ingenuity

We made a AOI poster. There are Health and Social Education, Community and Service. Approach to Learning, Environment and Human Ingenuity. I choose Human Ingenuity. I made it with Lidya. Chapter 1 and 2-Freak the Mighty book

After we read about Freak the Mighty chapter one and two, we answered quiz. This is the summary of chapter one and chapter two;


Chapter one) The Unvanquished Truth

Freak (Kevin) and Max (Kicker) met for the first time in Day Care. Then, they also met for the second time in the summer before they would go up to grade eight. Freak has something strange or defects in the legs, so he had to wear something like a robot on his feet. Max, he could not read well, so it should take L.D class. Max's mother is dead, so Gram and Grim take care of him.

Chapter two) Up From the Down Under

Max lives in the basement along with Grim and Gram. They called the room was 'the down under'. Max is also often lays under the bed and think he is a cloud. Basement has a small window. Fair Gwen(Freak's mom) and Freak, moved and finally become a neighbor of Max. When Max left the basement and go to the Freak's home, Freak happy to welcome him. Max and Freak are very happy.

Different Learning Styles

Today, in my ESL class, I learned about different learning styles. I think there is three parts of learning styles There are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learner. After we did a quiz and answer about that three learning styles. Visual learners is a learning style that use eyesight to learn something new. Auditory is a learning style that use ears (hear/listen) to learning something. Kinesthetic is a learning styles that learn through doing something, moving and touching something.

After i did the quiz, I think I am in visual learner because I choose a lot of blue color. So, I think it shows that I am a good visual learner.

In my ESL class, we start to read a book called Freak the Mighty. Mr. Jabiz told us that 'Freak the Mighty' book is about community and freak. Based on what Mr. Jabiz told, for me community is a group of people that have the same goal and opinion. For me, freak is people that choose to be alone and different from the other. Many people have opinion about freak people is like not normal as people as usual.

Before School...

Tomorrow it's the end of mid-term break, and today it's really boring. It's not fun. Not as usual, I want to go to school. But, if I am studying in school, I want to get some holiday. It is confusing... Haha....

Editing Grammar For Inquirer Project

Hello again! This project is about editing grammar. After we learn many things about grammar, we should can to editing it. I think I have a lot of mistake in there. I try my best to fix it. Here is my last project;

I was curious about why we can dream when we sleep. I curious about it since I grade 5. At that time, I had a really bad dream or like nightmare. And it's looks really really real for me. I was curious about it because when I dream, I feel it really looks real. Why? Is that real? Is that like we have that moment in the very very long time ago? Sometimes I can have a very good dream and I can have a nightmare. Why it can be happen? And after I dream and I wake up, I can't remember about the dream, just the people that in my dream. I don't know what happen if I dreaming. I also find many people that I never seen before. My friends said "You don't have believe it!". They also said, dream is just what I want, but that was not achieved. So we imagine we have that things, etc. But I also think about it. Even my mother advised me, to not to believe it all. It's just a dream. Not the real one. She often said that. But it rarely helped me. I always try to understand and remember the word that they said to me. But I always remember that nightmare. It makes me afraid.

I also wanted to know where are we if we dream? I am so confused about it. Am I in that place or may be in another place? At the last time, about two weeks or three weeks before, I saw my little brother talk to me but he was still slept. He spoke but it was unclear. And I think some people already feel like that. Even he was walk but he still slept. I called him but he just spoke with unclear while walk to the bed again. I really shocked and also I afraid. I ask my mother what happen, she just said my little brother had a nice dream. He was in really nice place at his dream. I still didn't believe it. Why it can be happen? When we talk or walk when sleep, are we fell it? Why we can't fell it? If I met some people in the dream, is they had a same dream with me, or not? And the last question that I curios is "How can I don't have a dream during I sleep?"

I think that is that I really really curious about. There are some questions that still in my mind. Why? What happen? And where? It's all about dream. For Me About Poetry

I learned many things about poetry in my English class, and it was fun. I like to make a poetry now, but not too much. I enjoy when making a poetry. I don't like when I have to read it out loud. I still embarrassed. For me making poetry is interesting. I can write whatever I want. There is no rule for making a poetry. I just make it. I like when I have to feel about the world. I like it because I don't have to think. I just write about anything that I hear, smell, touch, taste and see. This poem is tell me that 'This is your world'.

Last time Mr. Jabiz told us about 'Wall'. I think the wall that mean something that make us hate and feel uncomfortable (embarrassed, shy, etc) when make and read the poetry.  For me, now I can open that half of the wall. Half of it is I still don't want to read it. :)

Adverb!

Hi! In my ESL class, Mr. Jabiz told us about adverb. Adverb is a word that can describe verb. We did project too. We make a movie with 'dvolver' movie maker. It is fun! We can choose the characters that we want. We also can choose place and the weather.

Today I was taking some photo for my ESL class. We went to Peace Park. It was super-fun! I really really like it. Mr. Jabiz told us to thinking for the light and angle. Not just a snapshot. Snapshot is taking picture that not thinking about the light, angle, etc. Just take it and then finish. I also edit it with I-Photo. It for cropping, editing the light and the other. This is some picture that I already take and edit with I-Photo. It is not really nice but I am trying to take some nice picture. It is not really easy.

About My Hobby

Today I am really boring so I decide to make this post...


One of my hobby is painting. But I am not expert at that. I just do it base from my mood. If I have a bad mood I will make the worst picture. But If I have a good mood, I will make it detail. I like to paint anything. I think painting is fun. I just paint whatever I want. I have funny things that I want to tell you. It happen when I was still in grade 5. I began from I had a bad mood. So I decided to make a worst picture ever. I start to paint it. I mix the some the color. After I paint it, I thought that it would be a worst painting ever. But, it was become fantastic picture.  The color is mix become like a rainbow. I want to show you that painting, but it still in my old home. I don’t know where it is because it already 2 years ago.

I also draw with crayons. It is not really boring. One thing that I hate is my hand will become dirty because of the crayons. I prefer to drawing. I also won trophy for drawing. When I drawing I can choose the light color that I can mix with the dark color. It fantastic. It will become a little bit real.  Trying to do that! I also made my poetry by my self. It wasn't really difficult. This is my poem:

Best friend, best friend, I am here
Don’t you think I’m disappear
We will in here together
Whenever the bad weather
When suddenly you are drown
I will never let you down

Actually, we make it from GarageBand and the we make it into MP3 with SoundClound.

After I make this podcast, I had a lot of fun. I like when I have to find the beats. But for me the most difficult part was when I have to make my own poetry. I have to make 7 syllables for each sentences.

The first thing that I have to do was find the beat. And then I tried to make the poetry. After that we record the poetry that we make.

At the first, I think make a poetry is boring. But It is not really boring. It is fun. The problem is I don't want to read it. :)

Project About Adjective

In my ESL class with Mr. Jabiz, I made a project. It is about adjective. I have to choose a video and then describe it. I think this activity is useful because I can learn more about adjective.

I like it because I can use my imagination to make this project. I like when I have to write the adjectives. I can modify the noun and describe the video. 

The video that I choose was a song from Justin Bieber. For me the most difficult parts is when I have to record it. Sometimes my voice was too loud and sometimes my voice was too low. So, I have to make it not really loud and really low, normal. 

From this project, I can understand more about adjective. The first things that we did is choose the video. And then we have to describe the video. After we describe it in a sentences, we have to make an adjective from the each sentences that we made. And we record it. We also adding some sound effects. I think it was fun. This is my project about adjective. Enjoy!

I have a question for it. My question is "How many adjectives that we can choose in one sentence?"

Learn Poetry

We are starting to study poetry in my English class and I feel fun with it. I just have a problem when read it. I like to write poetry because when we write a poetry, we can shows what we feel. Also we can show that we see, hear, touch smell and taste. Basically, write poetry is fun and I really interested when write it. But I don't like when I have to read that poetry. I am to embarrassed to do it. Last Friday (14 January 2011), we went to being outside. It really fantastic and I having so much fun in there because I could write what I wanted. We have to write what we feel, see, hear, etc in detail. Now, I know that our school is cool when see in detail. There are so much things that we didn't know before. I saw a big tractor, blue sky with a cloud like cotton, colorful flower like candy, etc. For the photographs that Mr. Jabiz show to us, I think it really nice capture. The lights and the color is really good. The photo is simple but for me it's detail. So, I can explain that picture too. I think people can make poetry easier when look that picture. Mr. Jabiz was telling us about 'walls'. I think, that walls make our self shy to shows what we want. But, we have to take that walls down. It's not easy job because we have to fight to don't become shy and embarrassed anymore. It's really hard. I think enough for now, I will continue this post later

Reflection

Now, I am studying about parts of speech at my ESL class. As I learned, parts of speech are divided into eight categories. There are noun, adjective, adverb, conjunction, preposition, pronoun and interjection. Noun is a person, place thing and idea. Noun is also divided into seven categories. There are common noun, proper noun, compound noun, singular noun, plural noun, concrete noun and abstract noun.

The meaning of common noun is a name of something that non-specific, but proper noun is the name of something that specific (with capital). Singular noun mean one thing and plural noun mean more than one thing. Compound noun is one word that can stand alone but also can be combined to make one word. And the last one is concrete noun, mean something that can we touch, hear, smell, see and taste, different with abstract noun. Abstract noun is the opposite of concrete noun. That is my opinion about the parts of noun

During the lesson, we working as a group with Google Docs. Google Docs is in Gmail. I think it is fun. We can share each other. I like to use Google Docs. With Google Docs, we can see what another classmate wants to write. We also use Flickr to search some images. I think it's good. I like to use it. I think use Flickr make us to search the images that available for us to use and edit it. When I began to learn grammar, I think it will be bored. And I am a little bit confused about what is noun, verb, adjective and adverb. But after I learned it, it's fun. And I also now I know all of them.
